Smoothies vs Shakes
People get confused between Shakes and Smoothies!
While shakes are lighter and served as a snack or dessert, smoothies are comparatively thicker in consistency and are consumed as a meal replacement. Where both can be made with fruits or vegetables, the base actually differs.
The base for smoothies is mostly yogurt, milk, fruit pulp, or juices. Popular ice cream, fresh cream, or milk is incorporated to make different shakes.
Another interesting fact is that people usually serve shakes in glasses or jars, but smoothies are served in either glasses or bowls.
Want to do some experiments with your Mango Smoothie?
The taste of mango itself is so amazing that you actually don’t need any other fruit to enhance the smoothie taste. But we the curious people, always love to do experiments with ingredients and flavors.
Talking about experiments and flavors, there are some other fruits that can be added along with mangoes.
Popularly, the Banana is one of them and it is full of nutrients. So it can be a good option that you can mix with your mango smoothie.
Pineapple, kiwi, strawberries, and peaches are other decent choices that can be incorporated into those smoothies.
Want to play more with your toppings?
Toppings are the game changer. Interesting toppings can make even a boring smoothie much more appetizing.
For toppings, one can choose either fresh fruits or crunchy options like granolas, oats, nuts, seeds, and so on.
My ideal kind of smoothie bowl is that, which will be full of fresh fruits as well as these munching goodies for toppings. It gives me a sort of fulfillment inside.
To decorate Mango smoothies, the fresh fruit options are strawberries, raspberries, orange slices, pomegranate seeds, and banana cuts along with mango cubes.
For crunchy toppings, different kinds of seeds (chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, flax seeds) and various kinds of nuts, roasted oats, or granola can be used.
Coconut flexes or freshly sliced coconut pieces can also be set on top to enhance the complexity of flavors.
Fresh or Frozen Mango, which one do you prefer?
Whether fresh mangoes or frozen ones, it’s all about your preferred consistency.
Usually, I like my smoothies a little pretty thick, so always try to use frozen mangoes.
But if you like your smoothies in light consistency, fresh ones can also be used. There is a myth that we have to freeze fruits overnight to get perfect smoothies. That’s not the reality. A Good 3 to 4 hours will be fine to get a perfect bowl of smoothies.
Or if you prefer fresh mangoes more, try to add one ripe frozen banana along with the mangoes. The frozen banana will eventually give the smoothie perfection in consistency.
Do you prefer Vegan or Dairy Free Smoothie?
As a patient of PCOD, doctors always ask me to minimize dairy products from my daily meals. The good news is, these days there is a variety of dairy substitute products and vegan options to fulfill dairy requirements without using one.
Use cashew milk, oat milk, or soya milk Instead of dairy milk. Also one can make vegan yogurt at home by using coconut, oat, cashew, or soy.
Store-bought ones also is a decent option. Some of the popular readymade vegan yogurt brands are Almond Breeze, Kite Hill, So Delicious, Anita’s vegan yogurt, The Coconut Cult, and so on.
