Creamy Lemon Chicken Recipe

To be honest, it’s one of my favorite chicken recipes so far and it’s very easy to make. It literally takes 20 to 25 minutes to complete the whole dish.

In the summer, usually, we do lots of lemon shopping kind of every day. From morning’s lemon water to afternoon’s lemon mint tea, Lemon is our daily necessity. As there are lemons everywhere in our houses, we can be a little fancy and make a Creamy Lemon Chicken recipe for dinner.

Creamy Lemon Chicken Recipe

How do I describe my LEMON CHICKEN recipe? How it taste like?

Honestly, it is a perfect recipe for your date night dinner. Such a filling and tasty main course dish it is. You gonna get a very balanced taste in my recipe because of the ingredients and their proportion I used.

Chicken breast sauteed in butter, nicely seasoned crust on top, and dip into a thick creamy gravy that has a strong lemony flavor.

You gonna feel richness and sweetness from the cream, tanginess from lemon juice, and Lil bit of heat from the pepper. You will also get some textures because of lemon zest and sesame seeds. This is how I like to describe my Creamy Lemon Chicken recipe.

In how many ways you can prepare the Lemon Chicken recipe? Which are the possible recipe variations of this dish?

You can prepare the Lemon Chicken in so many ways. Every person has their own style of cooking. But in my preference, there are only 2 variations you can try.

Variation 1:

In this variation, we usually marinate and coat chicken pieces with corn starch and then fry those pieces.

Later on, we prepare a yogurt-based gravy and cook those chicken pieces in that gravy. This variation is not 100% authentic, this is an infused version of the Lemon Chicken recipe.

Variation 2:

This is my favorite version of the amazing dish, as this version is very easy to make and of course more authentic.

Here, we just season chicken breasts with salt and pepper and sear both sides to make a crusty outer skin.

Then we prepare a creamy-buttery gravy and cook those breast pieces in the gravy. No need to use yogurt in this variation.

My today’s Lemon Chicken recipe is variation number 2. I prefer this variation more because it is easy to prepare yet you will be able to taste classic flavors.

Which part of the Chicken you can use for this recipe?

For variation 1, you can use chicken breast, thigh, and leg pieces. You have to cut the chicken into medium-sized pieces.

For variation 2, or for this recipe you simply can use chicken breasts. No need to cut the breast into small pieces. Use the whole breast piece to follow the authentic recipe.

As there is no bone in the breast piece, the chicken will take very little time to become tender. So you see this is a very handy and quick recipe as well.

Which dairy products you can choose to prepare the Lemon Chicken?

You can use either full-fat liquid milk or heavy cream. But try to avoid yogurt. In this recipe, we are using cream and lemon juice, so no need to use yogurt. But in the case of variation 1 usually, people like to use yogurt.

If you ask me, I would say, Please use heavy cream to bring that rich creamy taste. If the cream is not available use full-fat milk, does the job ok.

Those who don’t use or avoid dairy products can choose vegan options instead of dairy products. You can find those vegan products in any superstore or check online.

How many steps are involved in this Lemon Chicken recipe?

This recipe involves mainly 2 steps to complete the dish.

Firstly, you have to cook or sear both sides of seasoned chicken breasts.

Secondly, you have to prepare a creamy Lemon Butter sauce or gravy.

Finally, you have to cook those breast pieces in that thick sauce. The chicken will suck flavors from the gravy and will become juicy and succulent.

Easy Creamy Lemon Chicken Recipe

Equipment used for the Lemon Chicken Recipe:

  • Frying pan
  • Pepper crusher machine
  • Spatula
  • Garlic chopper machine
  • Chic breast detendon tool/Chic breast tendon removal tool
  • Lemon juice squeezer
  • Lemon zest peeler

Ingredients used for the Lemon Chicken Recipe:

For Sauteing Chicken breast

  • Chicken Breast 2 pieces
  • Pepper pod powder (As per need)
  • Salt (As per need)
  • Olive oil 2 tbsp
  • Butter 15 gm

For Gravy/Sauce

  • Garlic (finely chopped) ½ tbsp or 5 gm
  • Warm water 1 cup
  • Chicken stock cube/Bouillon ½ of a cube or 10 gm
  • Full-fat milk/Cream 1 cup
  • Sugar (or as per your liking) 1 tsp
  • Pepper pod powder 1 tsp
  • Lemon zest 1 tsp (or zest of 1 lemon)
  • Lemon juice ½ tbsp

Finishing with

  • Lemon Slices (thinly sliced) 7 or 8 pieces
  • Parsley / Coriander leaves (finely chopped)
  • Sesame seeds (optional)
  • Black pepper powder (optional)

How to cook Lemon Chicken:

For Sauteing Chicken breast

Rub some pepper pod powder and salt on both sides of the chicken breast.

Take 2 tbsp olive oil and 15 gm of butter in a frying pan.

Cook chicken breasts at low to medium heat. Each side for 2-5 minutes ( or as per your liking).

For Gravy/Sauce

Heat up the leftover oil from the chicken breasts and add ½ tbsp of chopped garlic to it. Fry till golden in color.

Pour 1 cup of warm water and add 10 gm chicken stock cube to it. Let the cube be melted.

Add 1 cup of heavy cream to the liquid.

Now add 1 tsp sugar and 1 tsp pepper pod powder. Give a good mix. Cook for 3-5 minutes or till the consistency becomes thick.

When the consistency will become thick, lower the heat and add 1 tsp lemon zest and 1½ tbsp lemon juice. Give a good mix.

Add Chicken breast pieces to the gravy and let it cook for a good 1-2 minutes.

Turn off the heat. Add lemon slices and sprinkle some chopped parsley leaf. You can also sprinkle some sesame seeds and crushed black pepper on top.

Instructions

For Sauteing Chicken breast

Notes

Ingredients:
  • No need to add extra salt in the gravy or do taste before adding more salt.
  • You can use 1 cup of freshly made Chicken Broth or stock instead of Water and Chicken Stock Cube.
Cooking Process for Sauteing Chicken breast:
  • Don’t overcook the chicken or burn the outer skin.
Cooking Process for Gravy/Sauce:
  • After adding lemon juice don’t increase the heat and don’t cook for a long time. Otherwise, the gravy can turn bitter in taste.
  • Also, remove lemon slices from the gravy after a while to avoid bitterness.
