Ingredients

  • 1 stick ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons pumpkin purée
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch of flaky sea salt

Optional Toppings

  • Chopped pecans or walnuts
  • Dried cranberries
  • Mini chocolate chips
  • Extra maple syrup drizzle
  • Pumpkin seeds
  • Fresh rosemary or thyme sprigs for garnish

Instructions

  • Set your butter out at room temperature until it’s soft enough to mix with a spoon or spatula. This usually takes about 30–45 minutes, but you can speed things up by cutting it into cubes.
  • In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, pumpkin purée, maple syrup, pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Stir until everything is smooth and fully incorporated. Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed—maybe a bit more spice or sweetness depending on your mood.
  • Using a butter knife or offset spatula, spread the flavored butter onto your serving board or platter. You can go for a rustic, swoopy look or create a more artistic, piped pattern if you’re feeling fancy.
  • Now the real fun begins. Sprinkle your favorite toppings across the board. I love a mix of chopped pecans, dried cranberries, and pumpkin seeds. A drizzle of maple syrup on top adds a lovely shine and extra sweetness.
  • Pair your butter board with crusty bread slices, crackers, apple slices, or even mini pancakes. Set it out with a few small butter knives or spoons and let your guests dig in.
  • Transfer any leftovers to an airtight container and keep it in the fridge for up to 5 days. You can also use the leftover butter on toast, muffins, or baked sweet potatoes.

Notes

Use Room Temperature Butter.
Cold butter won’t mix well and could tear up your board while spreading. Make sure it’s soft enough to press with a spoon but not melted.
Go Light on the Pumpkin.
Too much purée can make the butter runny. Stick with the suggested amount for the best texture and flavor balance.
Pick a Pretty Board.
Presentation matters. A wooden cheese board or marble slab works beautifully. Just avoid using anything too shallow or textured.
Keep Your Dippers Dry.
If you’re serving fruit like apple slices, pat them dry with a paper towel. Wet dippers can make your butter board look messy over time.
