Equipment

  • Muffin tin
  • Paper cupcake liners
  • Microwave-safe bowl
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon
  • Small whisk

Ingredients

  • 1 cup chocolate chips milk, dark, or semi-sweet
  • ½ cup creamy peanut butter
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt half of the chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring between each round, until smooth.
  • Layer the Bottom: Line a muffin tin with paper cupcake liners and spoon a small amount of melted chocolate into each liner, spreading it evenly. Place in the freezer for 10 minutes to set.
  • Prepare the Peanut Butter Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine peanut butter, powdered sugar, melted butter, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir until smooth and creamy.
  • Add the Filling: Scoop about a teaspoon of peanut butter mixture onto the hardened chocolate base, gently spreading it without touching the edges.
  • Top with More Chocolate: Melt the remaining chocolate chips and spoon over the peanut butter filling, ensuring full coverage.
  • Chill and Set: Place the muffin tin back into the freezer for 15-20 minutes or until the chocolate is firm.
  • Enjoy: Once fully set, remove the peanut butter cups from the liners and enjoy your homemade treats!

Notes

  • Use High-Quality Chocolate: The better the chocolate, the better your peanut butter cups will taste.
  • Chill Between Layers: Freezing each layer prevents mixing and gives a professional-looking result.
  • Adjust Sweetness: If you prefer less sweetness, reduce the powdered sugar in the peanut butter filling.
  • Store Properly: Keep them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two weeks or freeze for longer storage.
