Ingredients
3ripe but firm bananas
1cupdark or semi-sweet chocolate chips
1tablespooncoconut oiloptional, for smoother chocolate
Toppings of choice: crushed peanutsshredded coconut, rainbow sprinkles, mini chocolate chips
Instructions
Prepare the Bananas: Peel the bananas and slice each in half crosswise. Insert a popsicle stick or skewer into the cut end of each banana half.
Freeze the Bananas: Place the banana pops on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Freeze for at least 1.5 to 2 hours, or until firm.
Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips and coconut oil. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until smooth and fully melted.
Dip and Decorate: Remove bananas from the freezer. Dip each banana pop into the melted chocolate, turning to coat. Immediately roll or sprinkle with your desired toppings before the chocolate hardens.
Set the Pops: Place the decorated pops back on the parchment-lined tray and return to the freezer for 15-20 minutes to set.
Serve or Store: Enjoy right away or store in a freezer-safe container for up to 1 week.
Notes
Use firm bananas – Ripe but firm bananas hold up best when frozen and dipped.
Add coconut oil to chocolate – This helps thin the chocolate for easier dipping and creates a smoother shell.
Work quickly when decorating – The chocolate sets fast on frozen bananas, so add toppings immediately.
Freeze in a single layer – Make sure the pops don’t touch on the tray to avoid sticking.
